Primo contatore universale a basso costo che permette di stimare la quantità d’acqua consumata durante una doccia. L’obiettivo è quello di limitare gli sprechi di questa preziosa risorsa influenzando le abitudini dell’utente e incoraggiandolo a ridurre il tempo trascorso sotto la doccia. Questo permette anche di ridurre i consumi di energia elettrica necessaria per il riscaldamento dell’acqua. Il dispositivo a forma di goccia blu è dotato di un display e di due bottoni anch’essi a forma di goccia. Non è necessario nessun tipo di installazione, è sufficiente calibrarlo misurando il tempo necessario alla nostra doccia per erogare un litro d’acqua. Una volta calibrato è pronto all’utilizzo: l’utente lo attiva tramite il tasto apposito e grazie al suo display digitale, il dispositivo indica il tempo trascorso dall’inizio della doccia e il corrispondente volume d’acqua erogato. Quando si supera il limite, preimpostato dall'utente, si viene avvisati da una sequenza di beep che si interrompe solo quando viene chiuso il rubinetto.
Il dispositivo è pensato per l’utilizzo specifico nelle docce ma può essere adattato a altre situazioni, in casa, in giardino o per utilizzi in luoghi pubblici.

The world’s first, universal, low-cost shower meter. It is composed of an LCD display, encased in a plastic, droplet-shaped surround with two droplet-shaped buttons. By means of a simple, educational graphic, numerical counter and audible alert, it informs the user how much water they are using in the shower. Showering/bathing is the biggest user of water in the home and our increasing wasteful use of the world’s most precious, finite resources has potentially devastating effects on our environment. Showering/bathing is also the single biggest user of hot water in the home and heating water is the second biggest domestic consumer of energy, after central heating.  
By informing and educating the user of the volume they use and helping them aspire to a reduced level, it allows them to change their behaviour to minimise water wastage, energy usage and carbon emissions.
On a consumer level, it saves the user money in energy and water bills.
On a macro-economic level, it is an important tool to facilitate quantum reductions in water and energy usage, and carbon emissions across populations.
The Showerdrop is designed specifically for use in showers, both domestic and commercial, yet can be adapted for use in other areas of the home, gardens, even commercial usages.
